Redwood Loop - Board Game Group

Board game players in Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley. Join us for board games in person and online. Locally we play at the Felton, Capitola and Scotts Valley Libraries. Sometimes we play online through discord on Board Game Arena.

In general we play every Saturday at a librarty, noon to 5pm. Some events are co-hosted with Lancelot Gaming so you'll find them there.

NOTE: A lot of our interactions and coordination happens via Discord. Meetup is one of the ways we use to let people find us. It's possible for there to be 10 people at an event and nobody signed up on Meetup.

History:
In 2017, the Scotts Valley Library decided to start hosting a board game event (for adults) twice a month. A number of people from another local board game meetup started showing up, and with time a number of folks learned about the event and joined in. Right before Covid started, we were meeting around 6 times a month in the Scotts Valley and Felton libraries. Some Saturdays we had up to 25 people show up to play games.

With Covid a few of us moved online to Discord and continued to play together. A number of things have changed since then. Our library contacts have changed jobs, some people moved, etc.

As the restrictions were winding own, we set up another series of events at the Felton library. Our current group is much smaller than before but we meet regularly to play games of all levels of complexity and seriousness.
