What we’re about
At Rochester Writing Group we’re looking for serious writers who are a little farther along on their writing journey and are ready to build a shared support team. Every writer deserves a support group. A community. Someone who will cheer when your book comes out. People who are going to show up for you. A reader who will read your work as you read theirs. People who enjoy sharing and will help those who struggle staring at blank pages. And—possibly most importantly—people who are not afraid to use technology to share, edit, publish, sell their stories, and achieve their goals.
What kind of person should join a writer’s group? Individuals who are readers as well as writers. People who are ready to talk about their work and see where their work might land with readers. Folks who are looking to build a team—the ones they will need to help bring their dreams to fruition.
All over the country, there are collections of writers who work hard and boost each other. Rochester should be one of those places.

What are We About?
Serious writing is a tough gig. Yet somewhere out there, we believe it’s a worthy cause to try to help each other be better writers. Pull ourselves up with our own bootstraps so to speak. Praise makes us feel good, but working together makes our work better. Writing is a ludicrously difficult and complex task. And the people who are serious about doing it need all the help any of us can give. Or try to give… to the best of our abilities.
So show us your work. We’d love to see it. Or drop by to help others with theirs. Submit your work or idea, unfinished or otherwise, at least 24 hours before the meeting, and post a link in the comments below as a Google doc or pdf. Submissions can be in any genre. Longer submissions are allowable as Google docs with comments enabled so that you can get the feedback you want outside of the meeting time.
