FAQs
What type of events do you have?
- Social gatherings like movies, meals, city sponsored events, bowling, cultural activities, trivia nights. Most events are based on member suggestions & requests.
What type of members do you have?
- Most members live in Rock Hill/Fort Mill area, but everyone is welcome
- Members range in age, race, nationality, orientation, education, background, etc
What can I expect at my first event?
- A mix of new and repeat members, usually 3-10 people
- Introverts who are looking to meet people & get out of the house
- Often people are meeting for the first or second time, so don't be nervous about feeling out of place!
- Smaller activity events (ex. bowling) can be less intimidating for newbies because it's easier to get to know fewer people while also enjoying an activity
What can I expect from future events?
- You'll see familiar faces as well as meet new members
- Balance of large/small events as well as free to ticket priced events
- Attending multiple events is the best way to gain familiarity with others
- I take suggestions for future activities. All ideas are welcome!
How do I suggest an event?
- Message the Organizer or use the "Suggest an event" feature
- If you would like to host an event, please let me know so I can set up the event page for you 🙂
Does being a member of this group cost money?
- In 2025, we have small annual dues of $2 per member. This helps cover the $300 annual group subscription cost that I pay.
- There is a 90 day free-trial period for new members. At the end of the trial, Meetup will process the dues for me on the card you have set up. It also removes non-paying members from the group
- Your contributions are deposited to the organizer to help reimburse the subscription expense. (Feel free to message Chelsea if you have more questions!)
- Select events may have a fee to attend, paid upfront to ensure our group rate
What are the donations for?
- Fundraising may be turned on to help cover any lingering expenses
- NOT required but definitely appreciated 😉
Who is the group Organizer?
- Me! My name is Chelsea and I'm currently the manager of our group
- I do my best to respond in a timely manner and schedule requested events
- Routine members can be given access to create or host events

See all- Civil Rights History Lunch @ KounterKounter, Rock Hill , SC
When Chef Rob chose to open his restaurant in a former five-and-dime, he learned it was the site of a notorious civil rights era sit-in, during which a group of peaceful protesters were maligned, arrested and jailed. He insisted on honoring the significance of what happened by naming the restaurant “Kounter.”
After McCrory's closed their doors in 1997, the original lunch counter was at risk of being sold and removed. A local organizing committee raised $30,000 to preserve the counter. Today, you can view the lunch counter's original surface, restored and etched with the names of the nine men who courageously stood their ground.Join us to learn about Rock Hill's "Friendship Nine" and share a meal in this historic place. We will visit the "Jail, No Bail" exhibit before heading next door to have lunch. This event requires a 24 hour RSPV cancellation notice so that I can coordinate the reservation. Please update your RSVP if you are not able to attend so others on the wait list can be notified.
