What we’re about
Welcome to Samadhi! We aim to introduce people to meditation and mindfulness, and to help them integrate these practices into their daily life. Everyone is welcome to join our sessions!
We engage in various meditations from the Buddhist and other contemplative traditions. Drawing on the practical experience of meditation, psychology, and Buddhist wisdom, we look at insights, teachings and new ways of thinking which help us unwind, relax, let go of things like stress and anxiety, and cultivate positive minds such as patience, compassion, and equanimity.
With a regular meditation practice, you will gain greater and greater peace of mind and discover a more positive approach to life, as well as improved levels of emotional and mental health. Meditation has numerous benefits for the health of both your body and mind, is easy to do, and something everyone can learn.
"Since nearly everyone living in the modern world is coping with an overload of thinking, remembering, and planning this may be just what the doctor ordered: a general prescription for soothing and healing overworked bodies and minds." – B. Alan Wallace

#### Online Study Group
This course is part of The Buddha’s Path (our foundational study programme).
This module is the first of three focused on the Mahāyāna bodhisattva path. The bodhisattva path is rooted in the aspiration to attain enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. This aspiration, known as bodhicitta, is a radical reorientation of the heart and mind towards universal compassion and wisdom.
At the core of the Bodhisattva Path are the Six Paramitas—six transcendent qualities of the bodhisattvas. These are practical skills we can cultivate right now to transform our ordinary lives: Generosity (Dana), Ethics (Sila), Patience (Kshanti), Joyful Effort (Virya), Concentration (Dhyana), and Wisdom (Prajna).
We will also explore the concept of Buddha Nature—the inherent potential for awakening within every sentient being. This is what gives us confidence in our own and other’s potential for lasting wellbeing.
This module offers an exploration of these teachings and their practical application in daily life.
#### Dates & Format:
Our Study Group takes place on Tuesdays, 7.00pm-8.30pm (UK time – check your timezone here). There are occasional breaks when David is away hosting retreats and for term holidays. Upcoming dates can be seen when booking below. Recordings are made available to participants who would like to follow along at their own pace.
Sessions consist of a meditation, teachings on our course material, and group discussions of our experience and questions.
Participants can join the Study Group at any time and at any point in the series. There’s no need to wait until you’re caught up to join a live session, though you’re welcome to watch the recordings at your leisure.#### Booking & Donation:
This Online Study Group relies entirely on donations. Only through your honest generosity will we be able to continue offering these sessions for the benefit of all. You can make a donation using one of the options at the checkout, or by visiting this page.
We suggest a donation of £25 for this module of this programme, but you’re able to offer within your means.
It is customary to offer dana (a donation) to support the teacher and the activities of the dhama organisation. No one is excluded from participating for lack of funds, but if you’re able to, as is tradition, please consider making an offering. Your generosity is greatly appreciated and all money raised goes directly into supporting our activities and fundraising for the Samadhi Eco Retreat Centre.
