#### SDMBA Archipelago Recon Ride Series
Prepare for the SDMBA Archipelago Ride on May 3rd with our Recon Rides! These training rides help you get familiar with the course while building endurance and confidence.
๐ด The Main Event:- Full Arch: 45 miles | 4,500-5,000 ft climbing | Sycamore Canyon โ Gravity Heights
- Half Arch: 20-25 miles | ~2,000 ft climbing | Black Mountain โ Gravity Heights
๐ What to Expect from the Recon Rides:
- Ride segments: ~15 miles each with up to 2,000 ft of climbing
- Moderate pace: ~8 mph average
- Routes posted prior to each ride
- eBikes welcome, but ride leaders will be on analog bikes
๐ What You Need:
- ensure your bike is ready to go - brakes, lube chain, fresh sealant (if running tubeless)
- Helmet & sunglasses
- Water bottle & snack (e.g., energy bar)
- SDMBA waiver required (must be completed every 6 months)

- Penasquitos Canyon Intermediate RideDel Mar Mesa Preserve from Rancho Toyon Place, San Diego, CA
Welcome to the Intermediate ride field trip to Penasquitos Canyon! We'll be doing a series of rides on the trails making up the Half Archipelago, consider signing up for the ride itself on May 3! (https://archride.sdmba.com/) This group is geared towards more experienced riders comfortable with their mountain bike on blue and (optional) black difficulty trails.
All participants need to complete the SDMBA waiver at least once every 6 months. SDMBA Waiver
This is a no-drop, intermediate paced ride around some of the best trails San Diego has to offer with time to work on some more advanced skills. The ride is from 5:30pm - 7:30pm, with frequent stops to evaluate and practice features and obstacles. Average distance is 5 - 15 miles with ~500-1500 ft elevation gain.We will meet at the East End of Rancho Toyon Place.

Mountain biking can be a dangerous sport, and learning new skills can be challenging. Always wear a helmet, bring plenty of water and if any part of the trail is above your ability and/or comfort zone it is okay to walk it.
The ride is led by Andy Robertson - Balboa Park Beginner RideMorley Field Sports Complex, San Diego, CA
Welcome to the Beginner ride at Balboa Park! This group is geared towards new riders getting comfortable with their mountain bike and dirt trails.
All participants need to complete the SDMBA waiver at least once every 6 months. SDMBA Waiver
This is a no-drop, beginner paced ride around some of the best trails Balboa Park has to offer with time to work on some basic skills. The ride is from 5:30pm - 7:00pm, with frequent stops to regroup and to work on skills. Average distance is 5 - 8 miles with ~200ft elevation gain.
We will meet in the parking lot (see the map) and ride out to the trails together.
