What we’re about
This is a post-colonial literature bookclub which I haven't seen organized before. From the subaltern literature (where the post-colonial acts more colonial than the colonialist due to an inner sense of inferiority) to the literature of the country actually breaking away from both the external & internal shackles of colonialism, we will read books from India, the Africa continent, Latin America and anywhere (a lot of places) where colonization occurred. We will place our readings in the modern context including Middle East conflicts and the pursuit of social justice. It will be interesting to start with a reading from Gayatri Spivak.

HI all, I look forward to seeing you May 4 for the "100 Years of Solitude" discussion - not sure it was as post-colonial as we thought so we will have to discuss. Chai/cookies.
I am announcing the May 25 bookclub early as it will be Alex's last one (the other person sitting on the floor besides me) before moving for a year so I want to get on the books the book so you can buy it- it is here
