I started this group to meet other volleyball’s enthusiasts and meet new friends; If you are looking to play a good sand volleyball joint us. We play by the rules and call illegal hits.
Basic rules:
Lifting the ball is illegal.
You have to hit it with your palm or closed hand, knuckle it or use the top of your hand.
When blocking:
*Blocking contact counts as a hit. You are allowed to touch the ball 2 more times, 3 times in total. (Blocker can touch the ball twice).
*Touching the net by a person is illegal.
*Respect the side of your court, do not interfere underneath the net, it can cause an accident.
When receiving a serve:
*Blocking the ball on the net is not allowed.
*2 hands open is not permitted.
When setting:
*With open hands ball should not spin, try to bump the ball.
*Setting with open hands over the net would not be accepted.
Remember we are not an Olympic group, but we try to follow simple rules for our own safety.
We often have newer players, and indoor players, that are not fully aware of all of the beach rules, so if you see an illegal move, speak up. I want higher-level players to educate us, but to ensure that we are still having fun
