Join me on this classic Mt. Diablo hike to the summit. This is a very strenuous hike, but the abundant wildflowers, water in the creek, green hills, and spectacular views make it well worth the effort. Approximately 12.5 miles and 3500 feet of elevation gain. Pace will be moderate, but steady.
Be ready to leave at 8:30, boots on, ready to go. Return time is approximate. There are restrooms and water at the trailhead as well as at the summit.
We'll be making a clockwise loop up to the summit of Mt. Diablo, going up Back Creek Canyon to Bald Ridge Trail, then up North Peak Trail to Summit Trail. We'll have lunch at the summit after enjoying views from the observation deck. We'll return via Juniper Trail, Deer Flat Road, and Mitchell Canyon.
