What we’re about
Do you like great books, and or any of the following: eclectic food/nightlife/comedy/theater and great conversation? Seattle BIPOC+ Book Club and Events is the place to be!
Each month we'll pick a book to read (any genre that the group agrees on) then meet for a conversation about our discoveries.
All books are now available to purchase at Mam’s Bookstore. You can also contact them on IG if you have questions about their inventory @mamsbookstore
Anyone else in the group is welcome to suggest any fun event, just DM me!
If you'd like to stay in the loop of BIPOC events/books/fun stuff, kindly join us at our Instagram account: @BIPOCSeattle as I’m hoping another platform will replace Meetup.com.
****PLEASE READ****
We will be speaking freely, often in critique of white supremacy, patriarchy, and misogyny. If you do not identify as BIPOC, you're welcome to join as a co-conspiritor, keeping in mind we prioritize BIPOC voices. We have an anti-racist lens with every discussion we have.
We'll collect dues each month after each book event which is $1 to pay what you can to keep this Meetup going. Most people who attend do not offer to pay, which is why we really appreciate the group effort of those who contribute financially, and from those who share their time and energy in keeping this space a community effort. If you’re willing to help, we accept Cash or venmo: @Maritess-Zurbano-1
***New***
Please keep your RSVPs updated. If you blow us off twice, we'll have to remove you from the group. There is no longer a group attendee limit, so it's ok go ahead and remove yourself from the RSVP list if you can't go, but if you change your mind, sign right back up!
