What we’re about
Seattle Board Games supports a vibrant and inclusive community of board game enthusiasts in the Seattle metro area. Our events and gatherings offer opportunities to have fun, make friends, and deepen our appreciation for the art, design, and strategy of board games. We seek to make games more accessible by removing barriers to enjoying and learning from them.
We host all types of boardgames, from lighter games such as Settlers of Catan and Lords of Waterdeep to heavier Euros like Brass Birmingham, Dune Imperium, and others. We also play thematic games such as Battlestar Galactica, social deduction games, Magic the Gathering, card games, and party games. If it's on BroadGameGeek's list of over 25,000 games (https://boardgamegeek.com/browse/boardgame?sort=rank), we might be playing it!
Anyone can become an event organizer and host events - either specific games or open gaming sessions. If you are interested, please contact the primary organizer.
We are member and organizer driven, and welcome suggestions for improvements and new directions.

The Palaces of Carrara is a set collection game in which you compete to buy colored blocks used to construct the most beautiful marble buildings in the various cities throughout the region. Once you’ve begun building, you’ll need to tactically choose when to score certain characteristics or locations. Scoring will bring in the money needed to buy more blocks and/or the victory points needed to win the game.
I'll teach the game. To learn yourself, use the following resources:
- The Palaces of Carrara (Second Edition) | BoardGameGeek.

- Game in a Nutshell - The Palaces of Carrara (how to play).
Designed by Wolfgang Kramer and Michael Kiesling, gameplay revolves around acquiring marble from the turntables, constructing buildings in designated cities, and scoring points through strategic placement and the fulfillment of specific conditions. Players must balance their actions between acquiring resources, building, and deciding the optimal time to score their achievements. The game encourages players to watch their opponents' moves closely and adapt their strategies accordingly.
