What we’re about
Our group is about having a fun time through board games. We also do other activities including a monthly book club and hikes.
All kinds of players are welcome: experienced players are more than happy to teach newcomers. If you have a board game you'd like to share, feel free to bring it. We look forward to meeting you.
HOUSE RULES: This group is intended to be a safe, comfortable space to play games, do group activities, and socialize with people. This is not a dating meetup group. Please do not hit on people (especially when they are new). Please only offer your number to people, don't ask for theirs. That way it's their choice if they would like to contact you. If you are uncomfortable and feel someone has broken these rules, please contact one of the organizers.
A monthly book club mainly focused on sci-fi/fantasy, but other genres too: mystery, crime, horror, etc. We're open to any suggestions.
Date/Time: January 21, Tuesday, 6:30pm
Location: Mount Pleasant Library - Study room located next to library entrance (DO NOT USE FIRE EXIT DOOR) ***NOTE LOCATION CHANGE TO MOUNT PLEASANT - NOT CENTRAL LIBRARY***
Plot Summary: A magical island. A dangerous task. A burning secret.
Linus Baker leads a quiet, solitary life. At forty, he lives in a tiny house with a devious cat and his old records. As a Case Worker at the Department in Charge Of Magical Youth, he spends his days overseeing the well-being of children in government-sanctioned orphanages.
When Linus is unexpectedly summoned by Extremely Upper Management he's given a curious and highly classified assignment: travel to Marsyas Island Orphanage, where six dangerous children reside: a gnome, a sprite, a wyvern, an unidentifiable green blob, a were-Pomeranian, and the Antichrist. Linus must set aside his fears and determine whether or not they’re likely to bring about the end of days.
But the children aren’t the only secret the island keeps. Their caretaker is the charming and enigmatic Arthur Parnassus, who will do anything to keep his wards safe. As Arthur and Linus grow closer, long-held secrets are exposed, and Linus must make a choice: destroy a home or watch the world burn. Goodreads link
