What we’re about
The Shorewalkers:Members Only Group is open to active members of Shorewalkers. Our volunteer hike leaders lead over 250 walks a year, on weekends and throughout the week. To become a member, visit our website Membership Levels - Shorewalkers.
Who We Are:
Shorewalkers is a non-profit environmental hiking organization founded in 1982. Our mission is to promote and preserve New York City’s waterfront and raise awareness of its shorelines by leading invigorating hikes throughout the metropolitan area. Our signature event, The Great Saunter, is a 32-mile trek along Manhattan's shoreline, held annually on the first Saturday of May. Additionally, we host the Great Saunter Fall Challenge, a virtual event in early October.

See all- Shakespeare in Central Park - the Walking VersionCentral Park West & West 93rd Street, New York, NY
This is not THE Shakespeare in the Park at the Delacorte Theater; rather, it's NY Classical Theater at Central Park West & 103rd Street. During the production of "All's Well That Ends Well," the audience follows the play from scene to scene. There is a shoreline (pond) and walking involved, therefore I think this qualifies as a Shorewalkers' event!
The play starts at 7pm, allowing us time to picnic before the show begins.
MEET: 5:45pm on the park side of 93rd & Central Park West. Take the 1/A/C to 96th Street. Arrive early if you would like to use the restrooms 5 min. down the path at the Tennis Center. At 6pm, we walk up to the 103rd Street entrance of the park and if you are running late, meet us on the lawn as you enter.
Bring: Travel light, as you'll be carrying whatever you bring with you as we move multiple times throughout the evening. A towel to sit on or if you prefer a low chair (seat not higher than 1ft off the ground). Food for yourself and a little to share. Bug spray.
COST: The play is free and if you wish, you can make a donation online.

- Highbridge Park Trail CleanupBroadway and 168th Street, northwest corner, outside Starbucks, New York, NY
Let's help clean up the trail in Highbridge Park. It's a lovely, shaded area along the Old Croton Aqueduct (OCA) trail. Hundreds of walkers will follow this route as part of the 'Hike The Heights' community event on June 7, and we want to show it at its best.
We are partnering with the NY Restoration Project, which will supply grabbers, work gloves, and bags.
BRING: water, lunch, hat, and sunscreen. We will gather after the event to have lunch. Wear closed-toe shoes.
MEET: At 9:45 am, meet in front of Starbucks on the NW corner of Broadway and 168th Street. Take the 1/A/C. At 10 am promptly, we walk to Adventure Playground Park house at 165th and Edgecomb Avenue. Please feel free to meet us there if you are running late. There are restrooms and a water fountain.
