What we’re about
The purpose of this group is to discuss interesting short stories in a casual social atmosphere. It’s also to make new friends and relax after work.
A general aim of the stories will be to explore alternative possible worlds through fiction with the hope of gaining more insight into our own. To that end, many of the short stories will include an element of futurism, speculation, and social commentary. We’ll feature authors like Ted Chiang, Ursula K Le Guin, Greg Egan, and others.
We strongly encourage people to read the stories ahead of time. Stories will be posted at least a week in advance and will usually be relatively short in length. Meetings will be roughly every two weeks. We have meetings in San Jose roughly every other Monday, and meetings on San Francisco every Wednesdays.
