What we’re about
The Siberian Husky, Samoyed, and Alaskan Malamute are breeds directly descending from the original "sled dog." The word "husky" is derived from "Esky," a nickname once used for the Eskimos and their dogs.
Siberian Huskies are still employed as sled dogs today. They are favored in purebred races for speed, outpacing other sled dog breeds like the Samoyed and the stronger but slower Alaskan Malamute. The breed is often categorized into "racing" and "show" Siberians. Racing Siberians usually have longer legs for greater reach during runs, while show Siberians are generally smaller.
Beyond sled racing, Siberians enjoy recreational mushing and are also utilized for dog-packing and hiking. In areas lacking snow, our dogs are exercised on local trails using specially designed scooters for urban or dryland mushing. This activity is an excellent way for our dogs to engage in what they were bred for.
This meetup group aims to offer you and your dog(s) the chance to obtain the necessary physical exercise for a happy, balanced life. All breeds are welcome, particularly those related to northern breeds. Non-northern breeds must weigh at least 40 pounds due to the huskies' higher prey drive, ensuring a safe environment for all. Our goal is to foster a secure space for dogs to socialize and to educate owners on the importance of regular dog exercise.
***** This group is NOT for finding breeding partners or selling puppies. Any such activity will result in an immediate and permanent ban. *****
Please note that we are NOT a rescue group. Members are encouraged to share information about dogs needing homes. However, if you are joining solely to get rid of your dog, this is NOT the place for you. Again, we are not a rescue! The hope is that you're here because you want to keep your dog, not part with him/her!
All new members MUST use their real name, upload a photo of their dog(s), and answer a few basic questions before joining. Your membership will be declined if all three requirements are unmet. You also MUST have a dog to join, as this is a dog group.

We are not professional guides and thus do not have certified training or insurance. Be aware that inherent hazards and risks are associated with walking, hiking, and all other physical activities. You may participate with us in any activity, but you do so at your own risk. You alone are responsible for your own safety and health. The more prepared you are, the better the chance you will remain safe. Your preparedness not only affects your safety but the safety and enjoyment of the whole group.
All events are held at your and your dog's risk. By joining this group, you agree to indemnify me and any other event host and hold the event hosts harmless for whatever you, your dogs, and your guests may experience or cause at any of the events.
As event hosts, we are not in charge of any events. We are merely participating in an activity ourselves and invite others to join us.
You are responsible for your dogs' actions and well-being, so make it a priority to determine whether your psychological and physical fitness levels are compatible with the chosen activity.
For dog owners, it is important to realize that not all places are open to our four-legged friends. I know it's hard to believe, but not everyone loves dogs. We are, in fact, in the minority compared with our non-dog-owning neighbors. As such, make sure your dog is a good citizen at events. Please respect others who are not members of the group and respect the places we go to. Always pick up after your dog, and always keep your dog under your control!
This meetup group is not a substitute for proper socialization and obedience training. Your dog must be friendly with people and with other dogs.
Please note: Requesting membership to this group signifies you have read and agree to the terms of this group's disclaimers.
