Preston Freelancer MeetUp and Coworking Day
This is a regular meet up for freelancers, home workers, solopreneurs and alike. It is aimed to provide the opportunity to meet and connect with other likeminded people working in a similar way.

Do you find working from home can feel make you feel isolated?
Are you new to freelancing and would like to talk to others with experience?
Are you looking to work with other freelancers and would like to connect with the local community?
These are all good reasons to come and join us.

Our meet-up starts at 10am with informal conversations over a drink and pastries in our lovely social area. It will provide an opportunity to meet other people with similar experiences. We will have a guest introductions spot, again super relaxed where our guest will introduce themselves and tell us a bit about what they do. There are no round the room intros and you don’t have to present yourself.

There are two ticket options:
1) Freelancer Meet-Up Coffee Hour – 10am-11am : £6
Ideal if you just want to attend the meet-up for around an hour. Listen to our guest speaker and meet a few other freelancers.
2) Freelancer Meet-Up and Society1 Coworking Day Ticket : £17
This ticket includes both the meet-up and a day of coworking at Society1. It provides the opportunity to stay on after the meet-up and join us at Society1 for the rest of the day. Bring your laptop, grab a desk and work with us for the afternoon. Tickets includes the freelancer meet-up and an afternoon of coworking 10am – 5pm. Tea, Coffee and biscuits are included in your afternoon work pass.

About Society1:
Society1 is an independent coworking space located in Preston City Centre. We offer hotdesking, dedicated desk space, meeting room rental, virtual offices, and events. When you arrive for an event at Society1 ring the buzzer near the front door to gain access then report to reception to get checked in.

Getting there:
Society1 is located on Cross Street, just off Winckley Square (PR1 3LT). It is easily accessible by bus and train.
If you need to drive, public parking is available at Fishergate Shopping Centre or Avenham Public Car Park (closes at 8pm)

Preston Tech Connection is a group centred around an interest in digital technologies. We meet monthly to discuss interesting and topical subjects.

Our May meet-up is themed 'The Rise And Fall Of The Tech Rock Star'
This will be a panel discussion with opportunity for attendees to join the discussion with their questions and thoughts. It is sure to be an interesting conversation. We will look at ideas such as:

• The media’s role in glorifying tech founders
• The startup culture and "move fast, break things" mentality
• The tech industries Influence on politics, culture, and the economy
• Tech as modern rock ‘n’ roll: cult followings and brand evangelism
• Ethical dilemmas
• Are we seeing the end of the “tech rock star” era?
• The rise of decentralised leadership and collective innovation
• Responsible tech leadership moving forward.

About Preston Tech Connection
Preston Tech Connection is a group centred around an interest in digital technologies – our events and meet-ups are a place where tech enthusiasts can come together, exchange ideas, work on projects, and support one another.
Preston Tech Connection is founded by Tom Crawley Neon Mountain and Catarina and Brendan King, Society1. We host monthly meet-ups.
Our events cover topics like software, programming, hardware and emerging tech. We have a shared interest in the latest advancements in the digital realm. We host events with a social and collaborative aspect, workshops, guest speaker events, and networking.
We are an inclusive group and open for anyone to attend. You don’t need to work in tech. If you are interested in the topics or just want to come and be part of a friendly community of people exploring the digital and tech world, you are welcome.

Society1 is located on Cross Street, just off Winckley Square (PR1 3LT). It is easily accessible by bus and train.
If you need to drive, public parking is available at Fishergate Shopping Centre or Avenham Public Car Park. The Avenham multi storey car park closes at 8pm, so as this event runs later we advise that you park in the open air one or on the streets around us.
