What we’re about
Welcome to the Soft Lite Studios Meetup group. This group is dedicated to bringing area photographers together in an exploration of all things imaging. Our primary areas of interest will be mechanical mastery of photography equipment, exposure mastery of both available and studio based lighting, as well as an in-depth study of composition and the design elements that lead to strong and compelling images.
To be clear, right up front, this group is sponsored, in part, by Soft Lite Studios, which is in the business of teaching in-depth classes in many of these disciplines. As such we have a dedicated meeting and workshop space where these classes will be offered. The purpose of the group is twofold: One, to provide a community both in space and in spirit where imaging artists can share their paths and passions in creating images, and two, to allow for shared experiences in shooting opportunities.
While we will be promoting our class offerings we will be sponsoring free meetings and events that all can attend. We have no interest in a "hard sell" of our classes, and at the same time, we will be working towards making the group self-supporting as it moves forward. This will be a careful balance to be sure, but we feel the community aspect of the group can be beneficial for all parties.
We hope you will join us in sharing your photographic and imaging passions and help be a part of crafting this Meetup's current and future direction.

See all- Monthly Field Shoot (Ohio State House)The Ohio Statehouse, Columbus, OH
Ok!
This month's shoot will be at the Ohio State House. The State House on Saturday is open from 11 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. I will be there from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Note: Due to staffing and security considerations, only the 3rd Street entrance, State Street entrance, and the South Light Court sliding doors are open to the public. Please plan accordingly. You will need to go through Highway Patrol Security to enter the building.
The primary focus of the shoot will naturally be architecture; however, macro photography and focusing on lines, shapes, patterns, and colors also work well here. I will shoot with a 24-70mm lens, a 14-24mm lens, and a macro lens. If you work this location, some really great shots can be had.
I can be found in the Rotunda from 2:10 - 2:30 if you are looking to talk with me. After 2:30 I will be working my way through the building looking for compelling images.
Hope to see you there!
