What we’re about
We'll do a regular sunset hike up Spencer Butte every Wednesday evening. It's a great opportunity to see the amazing variety in the sunsets. We chat and get to know each other while we hike and watch the sunset. We often share information about other outdoor activities in the area.
Everyone is welcome. Spencer Butte is a challenging two mile round trip hike with 800' of elevation gain. We go at our own desired speeds on the way up, so do not feel that you need to be able to "keep up" with everyone. On the way down we make sure that whoever is last isn't alone. (If you haven't been physically active in some time or have health concerns, please confirm with your doctor that this activity is appropriate for you before joining us.)
Sometimes after the hike we get together at a restaurant or bar.
The Wednesday sunset hike is the core activity for the group. A few other hikes and activities may get posted during the year. There may be some other more spontaneous Spencer Butte hikes during the week, but we'll see how that works out.
