What we’re about
We are a diverse, inclusive and welcoming group of adults 21+ of any identity dining out at restaurants across the South Shore. Please include your first name a clear profile pic and take a few minutes to answer the profile questions to enable us to easily find you at events, learn a little about you ahead of time, and have some potential convo starters. We are open to new members. We are looking forward to having you join us and meetup with us in the near future.
The SSDOMG has hosted nearly 300 events while dining at over 260 restaurants across the south shore since August 2006. Over 1,400 adults have been members of our group with over 300 attending at least 3 events, over 150 attending at least 5 events, and over 50 attending at least 10 events. Many friendships have been formed and favorite restaurants discovered!!!
We broadly define the South Shore as south of Boston along within and abutting Routes 3, 18, 24, and 95 with Route 44 as our 'lower border' for lack of a better term. However, once in awhile we do expand our wings to points further south and southwest. Our Event Descriptions have all the info you need to enable you to join us at the table. Attend an SSDOMG event to eat out for every dining occasion. Discover new restaurants, enjoy delicious meals and make satisfying conversation with friendly dining companions. If you are interested in joining the SSDOMG, please answer all Profile questions. Upon approval, please log-in and RSVP to any Meetups already scheduled on the calendar. Please be advised that we only approve individuals as we do have members only events. Therefore, couples will be declined and asked to join individually.
In order to join the SSDOMG you must have a clear profile photo and a legible first name (not a bunch of letters or words) in order to be approved to join the group. This is so we have a face to put with the name and a name that we can (hopefully) pronounce tp provide a positive welcoming warm and fun experience dining out for all.
Cash Only Policy ~ We have had a Cash Only policy since Day 1 as it's easier to handle the bill. Please be sure to have a couple of bills smaller than $20s. Sometimes a restaurant will provide separate checks, in which case you can use a credit card. Our event fees are $2 payable in cash, small bills (think $1s and $5s) only please.
No Show Policy ~ We like to treat others the way we would like to be treated and expect you to update your RSVP prior to the RSVP Deadline if you are no longer able to attend. It's simple common courtesy. You can read more about our No-Show Policy on our About Pages and soon in the Message Boards under the More tab.
As the purpose of the SSDOMG and Meetup is to actually meetup we request you please attend your first event within two years of joining. Those who joined prior to mid-2024 will have about three years. This is a new policy that went into effect in 2024 and has been (and is being) communicated several times.

Join members and guests for an Ice Cream Social celebration!
It's not only Founder and Group Organizer Angela's Birthday but it's also the first weekend of Summer!
There are no fees for anyone to attend this event. Come on out for a truly fun social celebration.Join us at Foley's Ice Cream Shoppe in South Braintree Square. Foley's is a locally owned throwback ice cream shoppe. Foley's is a vintage-style ice cream shop reminiscent of the 1940s, with a nod to life’s simple pleasures. We serve premium ice cream cones, sundaes and fountain drinks. Our waffle cones and baked goods are all homemade. Even the dog gets something special, our very own Lassie with a homemade dog biscuit on top. We have been proudly serving up sweet treats with a side of nostalgia since July 2018.
While we usually encourage you to arrive in the first 15 minutes, today you are encouraged to arrive within the first half-hour (30 mins). While the event officially runs for one hour, people may linger longer.
Notes:
1. There is no handicap access to the building. We will be outside if at all possible and either the staff or someone in attendance will be glad to help you with your ice cream.
2. The weekends are usually busy during the Summer. Kindly have patience. If you are bringing several people with you please be kind and allow someone flying solo who may have limited time to join in the celebration to go ahead of you. There is also limited seating inside.
3. This is an honor system event as Angela is inviting friends and meetup members to join her for this Ice Cream Social Celebration and will not be acting in an official capacity. Therefore, there is no Event Fee. If you do attend, kindly comment with feedback on the event page by June 25th. If you do not comment by then you may be marked as a No-Show. Please keep in mind I have no intention of collecting any Fees (Event or Annual).(In case of inclement weather, staggered arrival times are welcome. I'll probably hang out till ~3:45pm so arriving anytime between 2:30-3:15 works.)

Note: If you would like to become a 2025 AM at today's event, please bring a $10 bill and include a note with your name and town as it appears on meetup so I can take care of that expeditiously.

Located ~2 miles from Exit 40 (formerly 17) on Route 3 and 4ish miles from Exit 6 on Route 93, on the southern end of South Braintree Square, next to Braintree Lumber.Parking: Free and (usually) ample on-street parking.
~~~Please bring Cash Only!!! As everyone is paying their own way you can pay via CC or cash, altho cash is our group's policy. (All fees must be paid in cash, of which there are none today. Most Ice Cream places accept credit cards, however, there may be a CC charge minimum of $10 or $15, depending on the venue. Please keep in mind CC fees have an impact on the business' bottom line.).~~~

**Health Guidelines**
SSDOMG requests you not attend an event if/when:
>You have been exposed to covid-19 in the 10 days prior to the event and have not yet tested negative.
>You are experiencing any sickness up to 5 days prior to the event in which you have not been symptom-free for at least 48 hours, especially if it's contagious.This is for the safety of the attendees, employees, and our families.

Please update your RSVP, preferably prior to the RSVP Deadline or you may be considered a No-Show. We do have a No-Show Policy which is when you are a Yes/Going RSVP at the RSVP Deadline but do not attend the event.
