What we’re about
Do you love reading books that are a little weird? Do you seek out books that leave a scene or two lingering in your head after you close it? Do you like the feeling of being creeped out, weirded out, or at least a little uncomfortable? Do you want to meet people like you? This might be the perfect book club for you, and we'd love to have you!
Meeting format:
Our meetings are about two hours, located in the Westminster area. For the first hour, we will discuss the book for the month. During this time, there is no firm structure; we discuss "popcorn" style. If you have thoughts, opinions, questions, throw them out there! However, it is a firm boundary to stay on topic during this first hour. Please keep all discussion about the current book. Everyone took the time and effort to read the book, so it's important to honor that and make our conversation worthwhile! After about an hour and/or when the discussion starts to naturally fizzle, I'll transition us by introducting next month's book. At that point, it's a social hour, conversation is a lot more casual, and we can all get to know each other and talk about whatever!
RSVP Policy:
If you RSVP yes and can no longer make it, please update yourself to "no." I know life happens! If you no-show twice with no communication, I will have to remove you from the group.
If an event is full, please join the waitlist! Spots often open up. Because this group uses public reservations, I can't accomodate people who aren't on the Going list. If a spot opens and I move you into it, I will message you to make sure you are still interested. (If I don't hear from you in a week, I'll give the spot to the next in line.)
If you are on the waitlist, that means the event is currently FULL! I can't make exceptions. I'm sorry!
Content warnings:
I will do my best to post content warnings for the more triggering topics where I can (if I've read the book beforehand). Please know that possibly triggering content could still be part of any book that we read, and I might not always been able to warn you ahead of time. Please be aware of this as you read and do your own research as needed so you can care for you. There will be a variety of authors, so feel free to attend whatever sounds interesting.
I'm an easy-going host who loves books and a social evening, and we're a relaxed, fun group. There are many established regulars and new faces every month! So, please don't be shy. We'd love to meet you and hear your thoughts on our next read!
