What we’re about
If you are interested in theatre, comedy, performing, storytelling, writing, meeting creative people in the local area or just having a laugh, then this group is for YOU!
Improv is the art of collaboratively creating theatre in the moment. It can be dramatic, it can be funny (it doesn't have to be!), it can be emotional, it can be musical, it can be anything! It's brilliant to behold and it's liberating to do. There's no wonder its taking the world by storm at the moment. It's a fast growing scene in London and Brighton right now but there's not much improv in between the two cities. This is where we come in!
There's a great variety of ways you can become involved with 'The improv community of Sussex and Surrey'...
- Join us in our Zoom improv workshops from anywhere across the globe
- We meetup in Horley and Crawley at least once a week to practice improvisational theatre techniques in fun and supportive workshops
- Participants of these workshops have the option to become involved in showcases in local theatres. These are really fun to be in or to watch
- We're always going on trips to see improv shows in London, Brighton or anywhere in between.
- Then there's all our other social events (in the pub mostly)
We sail under the banner of 'Dingbats Improv' and you can find out more about us on our website www.dingbatsimprov.com

WHAT
Learn the art of making up theatrical songs together in a fun and supportive series of workshops!
In this eight week course you’ll learn the skills required to perform Musical Improvisation. You’ll learn how to construct and land rhymes, perform short-form musical games, structure songs, create catchy choruses, and develop full musical theatre pieces on the spot. You will also get the chance to study some techniques used by the most successful musical improv groups in the world, giving you insights into how to work as an ensemble, use lighting, choreography and harmonies to elevate your music, and your improvisation to the next level.
