What we’re about
The Southwest Photo Club was founded in 2006 to promote photography education in a fun and amiable atmosphere. The Club is centered in Littleton, Colorado, although anyone can join. We have monthly meetings and events featuring highly-regarded photographers who present to our club members on specific topics of interest.
We encourage members to share their photos, not for competition but to help each other learn and grow as photographers. Each month, a photo assignment challenges our members to take images of a specific subject, topic, or something to stretch their photographic talents. The images are displayed and shared at our monthly meetings.
You can join for individual meetings via Meetup, but we’d really like to have you as a full member. Learn more about the Club at our website.
Additional member benefits include:

See all- Sources of Noise in Photography: Hint, it’s not from High ISOLink visible for attendees$5.00
Join SW Photo Club at 6:15 pm on April 10, 2025 for a virtual presentation by Joe Klocek to discover the Sources of Noise in Photography and how to manage it.
PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:
When we learn the basics of photography, we learn that ISO is a control over the camera’s sensitivity to light, that as we increase ISO, we increase noise proportionately, and that ISO is the primary control over noise production.
None of these things are true.
Over the course of 45 minutes, we’re going to discuss noise, it’s three (that’s right, three) causes, what ISO really is, and how we manage noise in our image creation.SPEAKER BIOGRAPHY:
Joe Klocek has worked in the photographic industry as a photographer, salesman, and instructor since 2005. In 2017 he founded The F Stops Here so he could focus on making professional quality photography available to every enthusiast. In the pursuit of this goal he has created several products, written seven books, and taught courses on a variety of topics, an example of which we’ll experience to night. In the past few years, he has been a guest speaker for photographic societies and travel expositions. He lives in Denver with his wife, son, and unmanageable book collection.WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO TAKE AWAY FROM THIS PRESENTATION

- What Can Camera Manufacturer Apps Do and How Can They Help YouLink visible for attendees
Join SW Photo Club on May 8th to learn from Canon, Nikon, OM System, and Sony Manufacturer Reps about their Camera Apps and how they can make your shooting experience more enjoyable.
Most, if not all, of today’s Camera Manufacturers have Apps that support their Camera systems. While these Apps may differ slightly between Manufacturers, all are intended to help improve your experience with your Camera or add features that can make using your Camera easier or more enjoyable.
In our May meeting, we’ll explore these Apps with the help of Manufacturer Reps from Canon (John Stoilov), Nikon (Alex Rea), OM System (Michael Amico), and Sony (Caleb Timmerman). They will help us learn all about these Apps, and give us a chance to ask specific questions or address issues you’ve had using your Camera’s App.
We’ll use Zoom’s Breakout Room functionality to facilitate having four unique one-hour, simultaneous presentations on this topic before we all come back to our central meeting. If the Breakout Room presentations conclude before the hour time allotment, you’ll have a chance to discuss any other questions you have about your camera directly with the Manufacturer Rep.
Because this will be the first time we’ve used Zoom Breakout Rooms, we’ve recorded a tutorial for you to watch before the meeting so you’ll know how to move into the Breakout Room of your choice and then back to the main meeting when the App presentations are done. Click here for a Tutorial on Zoom Breakout Rooms.
For those who shoot Camera systems from other manufacturers (e.g., Panasonic, Fuji, etc.), please slot into one of the three rooms to get a general feel for what the Apps can do for you. You’ll have a chance during the weekend immediately following our meeting to visit with other Camera Manufacturer reps at Mike’s Camera.
WHAT YOU CAN EXPECT TO TAKEAWAY FROM THIS PRESENTATION
- Learn what features are available to support your Camera through your Camera Manufacturer’s App.
- Learn how to transfer Images from your Camera to your Phone while in the field.
- Have a chance to ask specific questions and resolve any challenges you’ve had using these Apps.
