This is typically a 42 mile recovery type ride starting at SR 54 (Suncoast) Parking lot at 8am heading to SR 52, turning around and then riding through Starkey Park. We then take Starkey road south to Havana Dreamers coffee shop. We will break and socialize for coffee & Cuban Bread breakfast (20-25 minutes) before returning back to SR54 through the park.
We can shorten the ride to 32 miles by omitting the SR 52 turnaround component depending on the groups size and any time constraints. We will discuss the planned routes and participants planned routes at the start and then again at the cafe.
We have had riders who want to increase the distance of this ride by heading north again on the return leg heading back to SR52 for an additional 11 miles totaling 53 miles. For the riders that go north on this option you can go at your own predetermined pace because the majority of the group will head south for home base.
Please be able to maintain 18-20 mph pace line wind permitting. We will keep the speed in the 20 mph maximum average range and riders can pull 1-3 miles at that speed. We typically dial it up on the return leg after the exit of Starkey Park (depending on the size of the group but basically this is intended to be a Zone 2-3 recovery ride. All riders are expected to ride in a pace line safely. New riders are expected to hang in the rear of the group to get acclimated. Please arrive 15 minutes before the start time so the group can discuss the plans, introduce new riders and leave on time. Everyone rides at their own risk and this group assumes no responsibility for any injuries. Team Elite is not responsible for any injuries that may occur during any event we host. Paceline experience is expected if you want to attend this group ride.
