Head on down to Reed’s latest Tech on the Tyne meetup and hear from our guest speakers Mark Jose, Director Technical Solutions at Cosella Consulting, and Liam Callaghan, Senior Business Analyst and Capability Lead at BJSS, as they explore agile frameworks in software development and how they are often misused in today’s corporate environment.
This interactive session, taking place at Bank House in Newcastle, will be split into two talks.
In the first talk, Mark will explore the disconnect between the original agile manifesto and how agile frameworks like Scrum and Kanban are often misused in today’s corporate environment. The talk calls for a return to first principles, shedding the over-structured frameworks to embrace true agility: a focus on people, collaboration, and delivering customer value.
Attendees will learn how to break free from over-prescriptive processes and reignite the spirit of agile in their teams and organisations.
In the second talk, Liam will prove to you that agile is very much alive and has a place in every domain and space. In this fun and interactive workshop, you will be divided into teams to show whether by using core agile principles from the manifesto, or AI, you can kick off a brand-new project.
So, what are you waiting for? Come and celebrate all things agile at Tech on the Tyne.

What is Tech on the Tyne?
Tech on the Tyne is a free software development meetup run by Reed’s technology division for those who are looking to get ‘hands on’ with the latest technologies.
The events are based on a kata format – a structured learning routine – and in attending, you’ll discover exciting technologies to get your teeth into. All you need to do is bring your laptop.
The introduction to new tech is provided by the some of the best developers in the area. Each event is language agnostic, so you can interact with the tech however you develop. We offer a fair and open opportunity for those of all skill sets to experience something new, brush up your knowledge, or even discover a new approach from fellow learners.
This isn't designed to be a super serious, heads down event. The flow is loose, and collaboration is encouraged. Refreshments and pizzas are provided.
