Title: Foundations of Deep Learning: The Core Neural Network Families — James Carman
Details:
Deep learning isn’t magic—it’s pattern recognition at scale. In this session, James Carman will peel back the curtain on the three “classic” families of neural networks that powered the AI revolution: fully connected networks, convolutional networks, and recurrent networks. You’ll learn what makes each of them unique, where they shine in real‑world applications, and why they paved the way for today’s breakthroughs. No math required—just clear concepts, visuals, and examples that make these models click.About the Presenter:
James Carman (@jwcarman) is deeply involved in the tech community. You can find him on LinkedIn: James Carman.Agenda:

NOTE THE VENUE CHANGE FOR THIS MEETING!
TechSolve, 4555 Lake Forrest Drive, Suite 310, Blue Ash, OH 45242Meeting Topic: A tour through the web protocols, how they are used at scale/in the cloud, and some security ramifications. HTML, MIME, HTTP, Cookies, TLS/SSL, X.509, TCP, IPv4 or IPv6, Ethernet or Wifi, DNS, UDP, ICMP, and some helpers are all used in the simplest of web pages. As we move towards more sophisticated web programming we start to find SQL and others on the backend along with a lot of behind-the-scenes complexity. Then Web 2.0 brings Javascript into our browsers with CSS, DOM, AJAX, REST APIs, GraphQL and others. We introduce NAT/PAT firewalls at the customer side and load balancers, autoscaled instances or Kubernetes, more security features, SAML/OIDC, etc.
All of this increases the attack surface, so understanding the protocols is a key step in understanding what, where, why, and how to protect yourself.
We'll go through a simple web request and the protocols used to transport it. Then, if we have time, we'll go through what's been built on top of it and how we build high quality service providers in the cloud.Scott Corzine is a people oriented technologist with a mission of "Building secure, stable, and scalable infrastructure/cloud platform to run your enterprise apps and SaaS products." Currently d/b/a Bear-Ice Computing, he is available for consulting, sub-contracting, or the right full-time employment opportunity
About Us:
The CiNPA Security SIG is the Cincinnati Networking Professionals Association Security Special Interest Group. We meet monthly on the third Thursday of each month, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Please connect with us on Google Groups at https://groups.google.com/g/cinpa-security-sig to stay updated on notices. (This link will explain how to join the group.)
You can also follow us on Linkedin.
The CiNPA Security SIG's monthly meeting format typically consists of one or two main monthly meeting topics featuring live presentations or demonstrations promoting open and interactive group discussions. Our focus is primarily on the technical aspects of InfoSec, but we occasionally touch on other areas of cybersecurity as well. Information security news, announcements, and round-table discussions follow our main meeting topics.
Attendee Benefits:
• Attendance qualifies for 2 hours of CPE or CEU credit towards certification renewals
• Maintaining awareness of new vulnerabilities and exploits
• Learning about the latest security tools, utilities, products, services, solutions, strategies, techniques, frameworks, and best practices
• Sharing of information regarding trends concerning enterprise systems and technology
