This Meetup is for people born in (or close to!) the 1980s. We are here to meet new people in the area and make friends. We get together for drinks, meals, hiking, history and more - mostly in and around Wilmington. We occasionally host events elsewhere in DE, PA, MD, and NJ. Have an idea for something we should try? Please note:
- All 80s Babies events are for adults only, unless the event details specify that children are invited to attend.
- While many venues have space for more people than the event's attendance max, the event size is set by the host intentionally. Event size is often limited to allow attendees to make meaningful connections.
Individuals who bring a minor to an event or attend an event without being on the "going" list may be flagged or removed from the group. The group organizer reserves the right to remove any person from membership or leadership at any time.
MEMBERSHIP FEES: Please note, effective July 1, 2024 members will now be required to pay a small membership fee of $3 for the entire year. This will help the admin team with the costs for running meetup. If you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out to one of our admin members.
Profile photo and username policy:
Effective April 2, 2022
All 80s Babies should have an identifiable profile photo and your user name should include your first name, or whatever you prefer to be called. We're so excited to meet you, and this helps our event hosts and other members know who to look for!
Note: This doesn't have to be a clear photo of your face if you aren't comfortable with that - just something that allows other hosts and group members to recognize you when meeting you in person. If you have a safety concern with using an identifiable photo in your profile, please contact Group Organizer Sophia. We don't want anyone to feel unsafe and will grant exceptions to the photo policy as needed.
Note: 80s Babies who have been asked to update their photo and/or username to follow this policy and don't do so within two weeks of being contacted may risk being removed from the group.
Attendance policy:
Effective April 2, 2022
Individuals who RSVP to an event and have their plans change should update to "not going" more than 24 hours before the start of the event. Anyone who doesn't show up and doesn't update their RSVP at least 24 hours before the start of the event will be flagged as a "no show." 24 hours notice allows our wait list time to adjust if they're moved to the "going" list.
Individuals with 3 or more "no show" events may risk being removed from the group.
If something urgent comes up within 24 hours of the event, please contact the the host. We understand that sometimes things happen that we can't predict, and the "no show" may be waived for extenuating circumstances.

Safety measures for 1980s Babies events starting March 1, 2022
(Update from Jan. 1, 2022)
Safety measures will be specific to each event, and may include mask or vaccination requirements, or limited attendance. Please follow the safety measures requested by the event host or mandated by the event venue. The host (or venue) may ask individuals who do not comply to leave the event. Failure to do so will also result in a warning - individuals who do not comply with safety measures a second time will be removed from 1980s Babies.
