What we’re about
A COMMUNITY FOR ARTISTIC AND CREATIVE PHOTOGRAPHY.
Welcome New York to The Art of Photography! Our purpose is to spark creativity, open new doors, incite discussion and learn from each other in a positive and sharing environment. The basis of which is to facilitate the merging of the principles of art and graphic design with excellent camera craft. To take each one of us, no matter what level of experience, to places, levels and worlds that are out of our comfort zone. To grow, to see, to inspire unique visions. Our critique programs, our photo shoots and our educational sessions are free. Your submissions for discussion are for you to choose without regard to theme or genre.
The Art of Photography began as a museum art school program in 2002 and has expanded to over 14,000 members worldwide. So many of whom have grown into exceptional photographers that are hugely represented in international award shows. New York, we are truly excited for your participation and look forward to your development as Fine Art Photographers. Be on the lookout for some very exciting photo shoots and presentations that will be posted on an on-going basis. Also join our International Site to check out over 250 albums created by our members. Thank you for your interest and good shooting.

___________________________________________________________________________________ - TAOP NYC x Cameras and Coffee @ ICP, Discussion-Light & Shadow & Photo ShootInternational Center of Photography Museum, New York, NY
Hello Fellow NYC TAOP Members
Let's get together at the International Center of Photography on Saturday, November 9th at 11am during their Cameras and Coffee series. During this event we will be able to take advantage of ICP's "community meet-up for photographers, collectors, and camera enthusiasts!" The café has La Colombe coffee and pastries.
Beginning with this event and each monthly ICP going forward, we will be discussing articles on different photographic topics that were written by our founder, Jack Wild, to introduce you to various photographic concepts that we feel will be beneficial to assist you in becoming better photographers. This session we will be discussing an article on Light and Shadow, two of the principal elements of higher-level photography.
This series is held on the 2nd Saturday of each month, so if you can't make it to this event, don't worry. Also, because this isn't a large venue, we will have to limit the number of attendees to 25 MAX. ***Please remember to change your RSVP if you decide not to attend. ***
You can, however, meet us at 12pm and join us just for the photo shoot afterwards.
After Cameras and Coffee, we will be heading out for a photo shoot between 12pm - 1pm! We will meet back at the ICP cafe to grab some drinks and discuss the shoot.
This is a wonderful opportunity to meet fellow TAOP NYC members in a more conversationally conducive environment, as well as other photography enthusiasts. Also, ICP's neighborhood is great for shooting.
This event is free to attend but ICP does recommend RSVPing at this link: Cameras and Coffee: Community Meet-Up (November 2024) | International Center of Photography (icp.org). (you can copy the text into your browser).
Meeting Location/Time/Hosts
Location: ICP is located at 79 Essex Street, New York, NY between Delancey St & Broome St.
Time: 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.
Hosts: Joseph and Doug. We will meet at the ICP's café @ 11 am. We will be wearing the TAOP NYC welcome stickers. - Join Us on Our MoMA Photo Shoot (Sat, November 16, 2024) - Robert Frank ExhibitMoMA, New York, NY
Come join us for an exciting morning of photography and art as we visit the Museum of Modern Art. This is a great opportunity to practice your people and street skills (photojournalistic approach) in the museum.
The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), located in Midtown Manhattan, is one of the world's leading institutions dedicated to contemporary and modern art. Founded in 1929, MoMA is home to an extensive collection of artwork ranging from painting, sculpture, and photography to film, design, and performance art.
The latest photography exhibit features artist Robert Frank "Life Dances on: Robert Frank in Dialogue"--the artist's first solo exhibition at MoMA.
Members of the group are welcome to explore the numerous and exceptional galleries and exhibitions throughout the museum. Tip: Use the following map.
PHOTO OPPORTUNITIES
There will be a myriad of photo opportunities in and around MoMA, but the one point to remember is to try not to take pictures of someone else's art directly. Instead, try different angles and perspectives. Be more creative and take photos of the visitors in the museum as they are contemplating the artwork or just walking around. Experiment, put your creative hat on and extend your vision. Look closely and shoot the architectural details inside/outside of MoMA. Think outside the box!Parking/Transportation
Because parking is a nightmare in the city, it is highly recommended that you take public transportation to the museum. See Directions & Parking.Tickets include admission to all galleries and special exhibitions.
Advanced purchase online is required to guarantee Museum entry and to receive key information before your visit. Tickets: Adults $30, Seniors $22, Students $17, Members free.
