for spooky season we are meeting at pioneer park which was once a prominent cemetery from the 1870s thru the 20th century. now reduced to a lone row of headstones which are displayed as a memorial for those buried at this park—yes, the bodies are still buried here!

Like to read in your spare time, but also need to get out of the house? Then this silent reading party is for you!

Silent reading parties give readers a chance to read alone in public, but together. That’s right: a bunch of people get together and read. And that’s it. Doesn’t it sound great?

We meet at different locations in the San Diego area including beaches, parks, bars, wineries, and coffee shops. We’ll mingle for a short while & then get down to the business of reading.

There is no required reading! Simply bring whatever you feel like reading (magazine, book, newspaper, textbook, comic book, etc).

Tune out distractions and get reading done with a community of people doing the same thing. Can’t wait to for you to join us!

This is a reading group for those in their 20s, 30s, and 40s. If that's you, come join us in Balboa Park to share about the latest book you're reading (or have read). We'll each get an opportunity to share about our book (why we chose to read it; what we liked and didn't like; and whether we'd recommend it). This is really a place to get to know each other and to learn about books that we might not normally read, but after hearing someone share, we might give them a shot. So bring a lawn chair, a picnic blanket, or something else to sit on and join us!

There are two, small parking lots on Balboa Drive, very close to where we meet. To access these lots, from 6th Ave and Upas, you turn onto Balboa Dr and enter the park. Drive past Quince and you'll see them on the right.

Looking for a new kind of book club? This group blends audiobooks, walking, and good conversation.

We’ll meet near the Balboa Park Information marker on the corner of El Prado and Balboa Drive (see attached photo) for an easy, beginner-friendly walk while listening to the audiobook of your choice. Bring your headphones and enjoy a relaxed stroll at a conversational pace.

After the walk, we’ll gather at Craft Cafe at Mingei for coffee or snacks — the perfect time to share what you’re listening to, swap recommendations, and connect with fellow book (and coffee) lovers.
