What we’re about
Welcome! This is a group for autistic adults with intellectual, artistic, and other learning interests to meet and socialize regularly. This is for the sake of cultivating the joy that many of us experience when we have the opportunity to socialize with other autistic people without the necessity of masking and of self-monitoring.
All autistic people are welcome to attend, whether diagnosed by a doctor or self-diagnosed. Parents, caretakers, and assistants are welcome to come so long as they are also autistic.
This meetup group acts under the aegis of the Delian Club, an autistic-lead nonprofit dedicated to fostering autistic culture and creating social occasions for intellectually- and artistically-minded autistic adults to socialize with each other. Our eventual aim is to have brick-and-mortar premises where autistic adults can socialize with each other freely and to which they can come spontaneously without prior appointment.
We are in the process of planning regular walks at the Matthaei Botanical Gardens, of which the address is 1800 N. Dixboro Rd. Ann Arbor, MI. We will meet rain or shine unless there is a thunderstorm, so be sure to dress appropriately for conditions. We will also have irregularly scheduled events at other venues, such as bars and restaurants.
