Welcome !
This group is dedicated to riding bicycles for fun , fitness , and recreation.
Keeping that in mind , the majority of the riding will be done ON RAIL TRAILS .
We will explore the various rail trails in Dutchess , Orange , Ulster , and Columbia counties.
Most of there trails are Black top, paved
EXCEPT for The Hudson Electric Trail, The Wallkill Valley Rail Trail in New Paltz , Hurley trail in Kingston, and the Stewart Buffer Lands in Rock Tavern , which are a mix of crushed stone and hard packed dirt.
While any bike could be used on the paved paths , a dedicated road bike would not be very comfortable on a gravel and dirt trail. A hybrid , comfort , or mountain bike would be more comfortable in this environment. The choice of ride , though , for the various trails , is entirely up to you.
Anyone who presently rides that would like some company , join us and check out the nice rail trails that are springing up all over the Hudson Valley, Westchester,, etc..

This group is dedicated to the safe enjoyment of riding bicycles on the various rail trails.
Everyone who joins this group rides at their own risk and realizes that riding a bicycle on or off road carries with it certain risks. By clicking on the terms of service for MeetUp , you agreed not to hold anyone in MeetUp (including organizers), responsible for any and all losses or injuries sustained while participating in the group.

6.2 Release. Because we do not supervise or control the Meetup Group Meetings or interactions among or between members of Meetup Groups or Meetup Everywheres and other persons or companies, and because we are not involved in any way with physical transportation to or from Meetup Meetings or with the actions of any individuals at Meetup Meetings, and because we do not control Amazon.com, PayPal, credit card companies or other payment processing companies, and because we cannot guarantee the true identity, age, 3.3(b) (Meetup Everywhere Fees; New Meetup Everywhere Activation Fees), nationality of Platform users, and because we have very limited control, if any, over the quality, safety, morality, legality, truthfulness or accuracy of various aspects of the Platform you agree that you bear all risk and you agree to release us (and our officers, directors, shareholders, agents, employees, affiliates, subsidiaries, and third party partners) and Organizers and Creators or Hosts and their designees from claims, demands, and damages (actual and consequential) of every kind and nature, known and unknown, suspected and unsuspected, disclosed and undisclosed, now and in the future, arising out of or in any way connected with your use of the Platform, your Third Party Transactions, our resolution of any disputes among users, and/or your transportation to or from, attendance at, or the actions of you or other persons at, a Meetup Gathering. You further waive any and all rights and benefits otherwise conferred by any statutory or non-statutory law of any jurisdiction that would purport to limit the scope of a release or waiver. Waiver of liability
You agree when you sign up for this group or any of the events that you have read and understand the below.
If you join us for a ride (or any other event), please understand that you are responsible for your own preparedness and well-being and will hold no one else liable in case of injury or mishap. You agree not to hold the Organizer, Assistant Organizers (if any) , or any other members responsible for any injuries, mishaps, or any other situation that may happen at a planned event.
The Hudson Valley Rail Trail Riders does not provide liability insurance for the protection of individuals who may participate in any of the events planned by the Organizer or Assistant Organizers (if any) .
This release extends and applies to, and also covers and includes, all unknown, unforeseen, unanticipated and unsuspected injuries, damages, loss and liability.
Your attendance on a ride signifies that you have read and accept the terms of this liability waiver. By signing up for this group or event you understand that you are attending all events AT YOUR OWN RISK. Organizers and Assistant Organizers (if any) of this group are just that, we organize the events and ride together as friends. There are no leaders on these rides, you are your own leader- This is YOUR ride.
