What we’re about
The Game Dev Group is a welcoming and collaborative community of programmers, artists, musicians, voice actors, designers, indie devs, modders... Basically anyone who has even a passing interest in the process of game development.
We provide a chilled, informal space to meet other game devs, and to learn from one another.
The main events run once a month and cover all things game dev. We run a number of different event formats, from fireside chats with industry veterans, to talks from subject matter experts and round-tables with community input.
We also host side-events such as game-jams, games nights and socials.
We want The GDG to be the most welcoming, engaging and knowledgeable community of game devs in the world, and we would love for you to join us in making that happen

Our speakers for this event are Melissa Hattersley and Alex Trowers.
Melissa is a fractional video game lawyer and digital nomad game designer at Agile Owl Ltd. She offers project management, early startup, and legal guidance to indie game developers and aspiring book authors and illustrators. She has also worked on a multitude of game titles for various studios, such as 24BitGames and FreeLives (Gorn), Landfall (Totally Accurate Battle Simulator), and Talent Digital Arts (Boy Kills World). In this talk, she will be giving us some hot legal tips and discussing different perspectives on IP ownership, the power of contractual negotiation, and the importance of retaining your IP.
Alex is an experienced Game Designer with over 30 years in Game Development working with companies such as Bullfrog, nDreams, Splash Damage, Electronic Arts and many more. He will talk us through the design process for VR titles and how it differs from a flat screen design.
