What we’re about
Adventurers looking for trail buddies, unite! Trail Buddies was founded in 2018 and is a community of outdoor enthusiasts looking to enjoy the trails with other like-minded individuals. Our events appeal to thru-hikers, day-hikers and cyclists and we’re always eager to meet new folks, learn of new adventures and hear those campfire stories. If you’re searching for a fun and active outdoor group, look no further.
Adventure, fun, passion, motivation, perseverance, and community is what we’re all about. We believe the outdoors is therapeutic for the mind, body and soul, and everyone should have an opportunity to benefit from it, so we host a variety of events from beginner to advanced that range from just a few hours to multiple nights in an effort to offer something for everyone. Some of our trips will be family and pet friendly while others will be geared towards pushing our limits for grander, future adventures like the AT, CDT, PCT, and NCT.
With multiple organizers, we’re posting more events than ever, and continuing to increase our time outside. As we set our sights on this year and beyond, we’re excited about all the new adventures out there waiting for us.
Check out our new campsite, and review our membership agreement and camp rules.

Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Hiking - Rachel Carson (Intermediate) - 14 MilesHartwood Mansion, Pittsburgh, PA
Our conditioning for the Rachel Challenge resumes on the Rachel Carson Trail and pickup where we left off at Springdale High School and hike west passed Rachel's Homestead toward the Hartwood Mansion. We'll meet at the mansion in the morning and carpool to the high school in as few vehicles as possible. As is the norm with most Rachel hikes, it’s difficult to predict what the trail conditions will be like, so plan on getting wet and muddy unless we’re fortunate enough to receive a solid week of dry weather. Be sure to pack enough snacks and water to keep you going during our hike and consider bringing a spare change of clothes in case you get more Rachel on you than you’d like! As is the norm with Rachel hikes, I plan to grab dinner afterwards at the Dive Bar and Grill.

- Hiking - Laurel Highlands (Intermediate) - 16 MilesWilderness Voyageurs, Ohiopyle, PA
Our next Rachel conditioning hike will return to the beautiful Laurel Highlands Hiking Trail (LHHT). This event will coincide with a camping event at our campground near Mt. Davis, so please be sure to check that out as well if you’d like to get the full Trail Buddies experience and the best we have to offer.
This hike will begin at mile post 0 in Ohiopyle and go to mile post 8, passed the Ohiopyle shelters. As you can see from this printable map, this hike will offer plenty of elevation. We’ll break for lunch at the Ohiopyle shelters for one hour to refuel and enjoy some serenity before turning around and hiking back to Ohiopyle, so be sure to pack a lunch and plenty of liquid of your choosing to stay nourished and hydrated.
Our hike starts at 9:00 AM and we’ll meet outside, in front of Wilderness Voyageurs. If you need to contact me, please do so before 8:00 AM, since phone reception in the Ohiopyle valley is poor. This event will either conclude once we return to Ohiopyle after our hike or continue on to our campground if you choose to join us for extended quality tramily time.
