What we’re about
This group is for anyone who enjoys poetry—reading, writing, listening, performing, or all of the above!
We will meet to discuss published works of poetry as well as pieces we're working on. This will be a place to share what poems mean to us and to support each other with kind feedback when requested. We're here to share our love of poetry and to build our crafting skills. If you just want to listen to others share their poetry, please feel free. All experience levels are welcome!
We will try to meet at least once a month for an in-person poetry share, usually on an open Saturday or Sunday. We also attend poetry-related events around town together. We will also endeavor to do periodic virtual meets to share writing inspirations, techniques, prompts, forms, and other fun poetry and writing stuff.
RULES/GUIDELINES:
1. This is an inclusive space! All identities are welcome. There will be no political, religious, or gender debates, and there is a firm rule against providing unsolicited advice or feedback.
2. If your poem mentions something that could be triggering, like harm to one's self or another person, please ask permission to share it before reading.
3. When providing feedback, be kind and respectful. Share what you like and what you might change, but speak to others as you would want them to speak to you.
4. We want to be respectful of everyone's time, and the restaurant or rented space too! Please change your RSVP if you won't make it to create room for others who want to attend. Anyone with multiple no-shows may be removed from the group.
5. Although membership and attendance may be visible to people on Meetup and at the event, we will do our best to maintain the confidentiality of anything that is shared within the group. Sometimes photos are taken; please let me or the organizer know if you would like to opt out of being photographed.
We mean it when we say all experience levels are welcome! We have great respect for all, even the newest beginners. No one will be criticized. We welcome, respect, and celebrate all input.
