What we’re about
Do you like walking slow and steady in southern Arizona desert and/or mountains? Our pace is about 2 mile an hour because we like to stop and enjoy the views, wildflowers, and wildlife. If the 3 mile pace of most walking groups leaves you in the dust, than you have found your solution with Slow Walking! Walking at your natural pace allows you to walk for longer stretches without tiring.
Normally 1-2 hours out, rests as needed, 1-2 hours back, moderate elevation gain.
Some crowd favorite routes have been Sweetwater Preserve, King Canyon (near ASDM), Tucson Mountains, Tortolita Mountains, Sabino Canyon, Tucson parks, museums and cultural walks.
Collecting experiences is more important to us than racking up miles. Bring your hand lens for plant/flower identification, binoculars for wildlife identification, camera for pics - or just bring yourself and enjoy the walk.
Mandatory - easy going, kind and friendly companionship. Having fun is highest priority.
Bring 1-2L water, sunscreen, hat, and appropriate footwear.
Note: We are most active in the winter months, especially spring.

LENGTH: 1.4 miles
ELEVATION GAIN: ~68'Temps have cooled down so it's time to hit the trails - dogs are welcome! Let's reconnect after this long, hot summer and enjoy the desert.
This event is for people who want to get outside and enjoy walking and hiking in the company of others. We're more interested in time well spent than in setting land speed records. We hike as a group, progressing at the speed of the slowest hiker. No one gets left behind.
We typically complete the 1.4 mile, almost flat, Feliz Paseo Loop in less than one hour with plenty of time for pics, drinks, sniffing, doggie potty breaks, and socializing along the way.
- All dogs MUST be leashed or carried. You must be in control of your pup at all times. He/she must be well socialized with people and other dogs.
- Be sure to bring plenty of water for both yourself and the pups, doggie bags, and whatever else you need to be safe and comfortable on the trail.
Don't have a dog?? Come and join us anyway!!
