What we’re about
This North Jersey group is dedicated to friendly video game competitions where participants can win a prize pot for high scores in games. Games will range from console and arcade games of the 1970s, all the way up to the Xbox 360/3D Arcade era.
This group creates a place where gamers can connect & compete in a fun environment. We will host a mix of competitions, both remotely and in person. Each player kicks into a prize pot and the winners' circle gets the reward. All events are based on the number of sign-ups and the prize pot will be determined by the player count. Signing up for an event means providing information and pre-paying for your spot.
- Remote Events
There will be monthly events based on online competitions or live-streaming play for high-score results with games that predate online play. These events will be winner-takes-all. Since not everyone has classic games and consoles, FPGA and Software emulation is allowed. Entry to these events is $5. Games will be announced at least 2 weeks before the event so that everyone gets a chance to practice, but the events will be live at a specific time so that the competition is fair.
- Live Public Events
Every 2-3 months, we will do a live event at an arcade in the NY Metro area. Our home base will be Billy's Midway in Hawthorne, NJ, but to be fair to all, I will spread this out from Manhattan to Asbury Park. This way we can visit classic arcades that can accommodate all locales in the region and people can attend when the journey makes sense. These events will cost more, depending on venue fees, but they will be fun social events, and the prize pots will be bigger. 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will take a share of the prize pot.
- The Live Primo Tournament
This annual event will be open to all players who participated in live events and will be hosted at a private home arcade. There is a $20 fee with no overhead, so the prize pot is huge. Buy-ins are also allowed to keep the competition going.
