What we’re about
The Bristol Umbraco User Group - umbristol.co.uk
The aim of the user-group is to meet on a monthly basis, with a 2-monthly rotation: one month being an informal social gathering at a pub; the following month an office-based session/talk meet-up hosted by a local Umbraco partner/business.
The user-group was established in January 2010. A typical social meet-up is attended by 15+ people, where as the session/talks meet-ups attract larger attendees (25+ people).
If you are interested in giving a talk at one of our meet-ups, please get in touch with us here or our Twitter account: https://twitter.com/umBristol

See all- umBristol Talks on the Farm: Boosting Dev Efficiency - April 2025Windmill Hill City Farm, Bristol
Hey folks,
We've got another fantastic lineup of talks for you this month, hosted by Bump at Windmill Hill City Farm. Refreshments will be provided for the evening.
The talks for the evening will be:
- "Visual Studio / .NET tips and tricks" by Luke Hook
If you’re working with Umbraco, there’s a strong chance you’re using Visual Studio. This talk is going to discuss some of the newer features of Visual Studio, as well as C# and .NET that you may not know about and could help optimise your workflows in future. - "How I made migrating our client's websites, from 8 to 13, easy! (ish)" by Owain Jones
In this talk, I’ll share the challenges we faced while migrating our clients’ websites from Umbraco 8 to Umbraco 13—modernizing them along the way and transitioning our solutions to use the new block-based lists and grids.
I’ll demo the open-source migration package I created, which enabled my team to write custom converters to transform client data from the old structure to the new one. I’ll also explain how this approach made migrations repeatable and helped us minimize the dreaded “content freeze” period.
