What we’re about
Are you interested in mindfulness but are unsure where to start?
Or have you already tried meditation and found it difficult to make it work for you?
The Unified Mindfulness (UM) system offers tailor-made meditation techniques for practice in the midst of daily life to build Concentration, Clarity, and Equanimity (CC&E aka mindfulness).
The program comprises introduction to each meditation technique, guided meditations, and Q&As.
Weekly 1-hour classes start again on March 3, 2025, at 6:30 p.m. at Gaithersburg Library (18330 Montgomery Village Ave, Gaithersburg, MD 20879). Attendance is free, but registration at Gaithersburg Library (at https://mcpl.libnet.info/event/12993213) is required; drop-ins are welcome.
The instructor, Martin Spiering, PhD, is a UM-certified Level 2 Coach. He has practiced meditation in various styles and traditions for 10+ years and worked as a researcher and educator for 15+ years, including leading seminars and classes on meditation and philosophy of mind.
UM is a secular mindfulness system developed by meditation teacher and research scientist Shinzen Young. Learn more at https://unifiedmindfulness.com.
