See all- POLYGON GALLERY Hyperopia film & art exhibitPolygon Gallery, North Vancouver, BC
Let's watch this new, modern 55 min film & see a cool emerging artists exhibit first... Hyperopia responds to today’s overindulgence in & overconsumption of images & overuse of cellular phones to explore and consume the world.
The Polygon Gallery is hosting this screening performance as part of their Lind Biennial New Works exhibitThe film runs from 7 to 815ish pm.
Mena El Shazly’s film portrays a character’s monotonous daily practices performing repetitive rituals, while searching for patterns and their connections. Aren’t we all?
The screening includes improvisational scores performed live by BC violinist and composer Meredith Bates.
This sounds like a very interesting film piece and a fun, different way to start off the year! Please only rsvp for this event AFTER you have registered for your tkt.

& if you arrive early you can walk around the art gallery’s related exhibit. Join us at 625 if you’d like to walk through the exhibit together. I'll post what I'm wearing on event day(prob a hat so I'm easy to find). The plan is to grab seats at 645/650 pm-ish, aiming for 4-5 rows from the front, left side. Once I’m at the seats, I’ll post the location we’re sitting in the Comments stream below.
If there’s interest, we’ll walk up to Raglan’s after the film(830ish) for a snack & chat. If you might like to join for this, please message me directly & I'll keep you in the loop.
The Polygon Gallery is located a 5 min walk from the seabus Lonsdale Quay station. There is pay parking under Lonsdale Quay Mkt & at the Pinnacle Hotel nearby.
Note: It seems they are being flexible re optional donations to see the Lind exhibit. The usual suggested donation is $5-10 but that's up to you.

More about Mena Shazly, the film & exhibit- Mena El Shazly is a visual artist who works with analogue video, embroidery, and performance. Her practice speculates on concepts of presence and transcendence, how these are informed by internet culture and ancient rituals, and how we might cultivate decay to arrive at alternative forms of transformation and regeneration.
- The Lind exhibit showcases emerging BC-based artists working in photography, film, or video mediums. Notice the contrasts of contexts, elements of change, emotion & curiousity in the works. https://www.createastir.ca/articles/lind-biennial-stir-splainer
