What we’re about
We are a peer-facilitated social group for neurodivergent adults. Our mission is to build community, make friends, and have fun. The group is an opportunity to engage with new people while providing mutual support. There is no cost to participate.
The group is intended for individuals age 18 or older who identify as neurodivergent. Disclosure of a diagnosis is not required. Members may be affected by Asperger’s, ASD, ADHD, ADD, or other cognitive variations.
Group Guidelines:
- 1. Respect:
- Be respectful of each individual’s choices and opinions without judgment.
- Understand that this is NOT a dating group. Friendships are the goal. Please prioritize good boundaries, and do not target anyone in the group with personal questions or advances.
- Keep conversation topics on safe subjects, avoiding sensitive topics (e.g. religion, politics, violence, controversial current events)
- Allow space for all group members to comfortably participate in conversations, do not be disruptive or monopolize group time.
- 2. RSVP
- We ask members to RSVP for every event they attend. This helps us when we prepare for events.
- 3. Support needs:
- This peer group is geared toward adults who are comfortable attending social activities without direct support from staff, parents, or caregivers.
- Our volunteer peer leaders are not professionals and it is not in our scope to provide one on one supervision.
- 4. Age
- The Ventura County Neurodivergent Adults Meetup Group is for individuals age 18 and over.
If something makes you uncomfortable, or feel that we need new guidelines, please tell us, don't be shy! Please feel free to ask us questions about the group.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
