We're meeting again on April 9th for our 18th meetup event.
This time we will be returning guests at Magenta 🎉As usual, first we will have food and drinks and then, as of 6:30PM, we will start with our evening program.

- 18:40 - Aleksandar Milicevic & Georg Heiler - Scaling data pipelines @Telekom (+Q/A), Aleks and Georg share how Magenta Telekom is handling their data challenges by turning data dependencies, tooling silos and development from being a problem into a helpful component of Magenta`s data platform.They start by covering the basic principles underpinning the data platform, discuss the current challenges in the domain of data engineering and share how these are solved for Magenta. They finish by sharing how building around the orchestrator - makes it easy to build for scale.

- 19:45 - Thorsten Steuer & Philipp Roth - ORF: Embarking on a Data Journey – Choosing the Right Platform (+Q/A), Selecting the right data platform is essential for maximizing insights and operational efficiency. This presentation examines ORF’s current data landscape, key use cases, and long-term vision. The discussion revolves around our findings from the past six months, during which we implemented the same test use case on AWS, Snowflake, and Databricks. We explored various deployment options and documented our findings in an architecture decision record. Drawing from these insights, the presentation offers considerations and suggestions that may help guide the audience to select the right platform for their company.

Speakers:
- Aleksandar Milicevic (LinkedIn) is a Senior Data Engineer at Magenta. Aleks is deeply involved in the data engineering community and worked previously in consulting.
- Georg Heiler (LinkedIn) is a Senior Data Expert at Magenta. He is a speaker and meetup organizer. After completing his PhD in Complexity Science he is now defining the data architecture of Magenta.
- Thorsten Steuer (LinkedIn) is a Senior Data Engineer at ORF, where he helps transform the organization's data practices. Previously, he was a Data Engineer at A1 Telekom Austria AG and a Research Engineer at CDP GmbH. His experience spans Python, SQL, PySpark, and tools like DuckDB, dbt, and various cloud technologies. He is always excited to explore new technologies, and he loves geeking out about Lord of the Rings and other fandoms.
- Philipp Roth (LinkedIn) is a technical architect and freelance consultant specializing in data and system integration for large-scale enterprises. He focuses on event-driven architectures, data streaming, and scalable integration patterns to help organizations make the most of their data.
