Walk for Fun, Fitness and Friendship

Come walk outdoors with America's Walking Club, walkescv.org in the beautiful, historic Village of Scotia, choosing either a 5k or 10k pre-designed route. The trail follows streets and sidewalks along the Mohawk River and paved paths through Collins Park. The Glen Sanders Mansion, our starting point, is the oldest building along the Mohawk River. George Washington was a friend of the Glen family and stayed at the Inn. All walkers must sign in and pay the $4 walk fee. Come walk with America's Walking Club, Walkescv.org, through a 400+ acre, park-like landscape in this historic cemetery, established in 1844. The start table is open from 9 -10:30. All walkers must sign in and pay the $4 walk fee before starting the walk. Please finish your walk and check back in before 1 pm. You will be visiting the resting place of Chester A. Arthur, 21st President of the United States and other notables. The walk starts in a business parking lot adjacent to the main entrance for the cemetery on Broadway (NY Rt 32) in Menands. The 6K and 10K walks through the cemetery will take you over gravel paths with a few short uphill stretches. Dogs on leashes are allowed. Strollers possible, wheel chairs not recommended. The location is situated in the Berkshires at the Vermont/New York border, and is the home of Williams College, the renowned Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute, and the nationally acclaimed Williamstown Theater Festival. The route follows paths, streets and sidewalks through the Village of Williamstown and through the campus of Williams College. All walkers must sign in between 1:00-1:25 am and pay the $4 walk fee.
