July 29 update: This event had the tentative date of August 5th while awaiting word of completion of construction on the trail. Now that that work is completed, I am changing the date. I am doing this because it looks like the weather might be more comfortable for walking this Friday than on Tuesday 8/5. Of course, one can't be certain, but it looks like Friday is going to be drizzly with occasional rain with temperatures in the 70s; while Tuesday is predicted to be in the mid to upper 80s. I realize that some might prefer the hotter, drier day - but since Tuesday is a week away and the weather prediction more likely to change, I'm going with Friday. (If any of you had your heart set on Tuesday, let me know, and maybe we can figure something out.)
Original description:
If you look at the map available at the link below, you will see a stretch between North Chatham and Kinderhook, in which there are four parking locations. If you look at the legend, you will see that solid green is off-road asphalt, dashed green is off-road stone/dust, and yellow is on-road.
I think that we want to avoid on-road, and that stone/dust is acceptable. If you enlarge the map a little, you can see that between the Kinderhook parking and the Niverville parking, there is a parking area near Valatie. Parking at this near-Valatie spot and walking north will put us on some asphalt and mostly stone/dust, but will avoid on-road. And, based on the mile indicator (in the lower left), this will give us enough length to fill our hour and a half.

Valatie is a picturesque little town. It has eating places, but I've not eaten there, so have no recommendations.
