What we’re about
This group will meet to discuss one of the weird movies on the 366 Weird Movies List and Apocrypha (https://366weirdmovies.com/the-weird-movie-list/).
For now, the idea is to watch the movie on your own and then come to the meeting to discuss it. Maybe down the road we can have screenings of the movies on the list that are especially fun to see with a crowd, like "Hausu" or the bizarrely bad ones ("The Apple," "Death Bed," "After Last Season," etc.)
See this spreadsheet for information about the 366 Weird Movies List and Apocrypha, including where you can find the movies streaming (though lots of that information is out of date.) 366 Weird Movies + Apocrypha: streaming info last updated 5/24/21 - Google Sheets

See all- Famous Short Films Screening and DiscussionSaint Paul Neighborhood Network, St. Paul, MN
This is a joint meeting with the Minnesota Filmmakers club to watch and discuss three influential underground short films:
- "Un chien andalou," directed by Luis Buñuel and Salvador Dali
- "Meshes of the Afternoon," directed by Maya Deren
- "Lucifer Rising," directed by Kenneth Anger
These shorts make up an hour combined, so there will be plenty of time for discussion. All these movies were made independently, demonstrating what can be accomplished by passionate people with little money outside of any studio system.
It's all free. We'll be in the studio/screening room of SPNN, a community media center in a warehouse district of St. Paul. Parking should be easy.
And feel free to recommend another movie on the 366 Weird Movies List for a future meeting: 366 Weird Movies + Apocrypha: streaming info last updated 5/24/21 - Google Sheets.
- "A Serious Man" DiscussionPryes Brewing Company, Minneapolis, MN
Let's get together to discuss the "A Serious Man," which was mostly filmed in Bloomington by Minnesota's greatest filmmakers (and arguably the greatest living filmmakers, period), the Coen Brothers. Watch the movie on your own and come ready to chat about it.
We're going to try Pryes Brewing, which has lots of space and will likely be less noisy than Arbeiter. It's near downtown Minneapolis but has plenty of parking. I'll get there around 6:30 p.m. and claim a table on the upper floor. Get a drink and then head up the stairs near the main entrance. You'll be able to identify me by my baseball cap that says "Weird Movie Club" on it.
