What we’re about

I am a single empty nester who has found it difficult to meet people outside of work and establish some personal community. I’m an avid reader and introvert and think a book club is a comfortable venue for those of us who want to meet people but need a little help with a conversation starter. I have tried some book clubs in the past and enjoyed them, but my experience was that meeting once a month did not really produce opportunities to develop relationships, because I would need to miss a night here and there or others would, then it would be a couple months before I encountered the same person again. Or in some cases people came to one session and didn’t come back. It never worked out the way I hoped.

Alternatively, I have the idea to start a weekly book chat for adults. The book chat platform provides a topic of common interest to those who would participate but doesn’t require any book to be read within a certain amount of time, which makes it viable for more frequent meetings. Of course, some people may be interested in coming often and others may only want to come periodically. Either way, I think it would give people who want to an opportunity to meet and build real relationships with people who have the common interest of reading and talking about books.

All demographics are welcome! (Any adult-ish age range, any gender, any lifestyle.)
