What we’re about
West Coast ASL (American Sign Language) Social and Practice is a meetup for those who sign, more opportunities to sign, or improve or stay fluent.
As ASL is "use it or lose it" and many people have a chance of opportunities or people to practice, learn and converse with in American Sign Language.
This group is a place for all skill levels, whether hearing, Deaf, or hard of hearing, to converse, practise, and share knowledge in a friendly and welcoming environment. Open to all levels and all people, we encourage all to help each other to improve.
Join us we find and make new opportunities to share our passion for ASL, Deaf and hard of hearing cultures, and hearing allies.
This is an ASL social and Practice online. This is neither a class or a lesson. We are group of hearing, Deaf, and hard of hearing . We do not teach ASL.
Please at least know your ASL alphabet fingerspelling and keep voice off.
You all are welcome, no matter if you are fluent ASL and can help others, if your ASL skills are rusty, skills have gone down a bit and you want to keep them or make them fluent, if you want to socialize in an ASL environment, or are just learning and want a place to practice, or anywhere in between. Please watch Bill Vicars' or Lifeprint's videos (youtube) before attending, because we will ask you questions about yourself, and expect you to answer!
Eventually in the COVID-free future, we hope to have regular gatherings in person.
