What we’re about
Welcome to our Meetup group. It's for people who’d like to take part in social activities on a regular basis, meet new friends and lead an active social life.
We aim to discover unique and unusual local activities and events, together with regular, more traditional Meetups like pub nights, meals, cinema/theatre, live music, semi-guided walks etc. Our aim is to compliment activities to your own social calendars.
We welcome new ideas and always encourage members to share with us your thoughts for future events.
Some events will be free and some we ask members make a small contribution to help cover Meetup costs. (Sadly it’s not a free service to the Organisers!)
In addition, we ask that all members keep in mind the fact that our Event Organisers are hosting their events completely voluntarily, in their own time and we need to make the events as straightforward as possible for them to run. The absolute basic requirement of all members is therefore to ensure that you keep your RSVPs up to date. If you put your name down to attend an event and later cannot make it, you need to be fair to all parties involved and click on ‘Edit your RSVP’ to ‘Not going’ ahead of the event. Try not to leave it to the last minute if possible as there will quite often be people on a waiting list wanting to go, should a place become available.
The most important thing about this group is to feel safe, relaxed, included and above all, have fun 😇
Risk Disclaimer:
Please note that all members take part in all activities solely at their own risk, should any personal loss, accident, illness or physical injury occur during an event.
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Easter Sunday Redbourn to Flamstead circular walk 🐣Redbourn Common, AL3 7DB£2.00
Last did this walk in January 2023!! Don will be leading it again, so bring him some Werther’s Originals 👴🏼
We leave at 10.30am prompt from the cricket pavilion 🏏 West Common AL3 7NG. There is a small car park near the pavilion or anywhere around the Common. The group will not be waiting for anyone who is not on time 🚙
From the common we head through houses to join a road that goes over the motorway and past a farm 🐄 We continue along the road to join a lane that drops down to Trowley Bottom. We then ascend uphill to Flamstead, passing 2 pubs 😢 and a church ⛪️ We return to Redbourn via a little lane past another farm 🐖 to join a bridle path, pass more farm buildings again 🐓and cross back over the motorway. The walk then takes a path past allotments 🥬 and back to Redbourn Common, where we’ll probably end up at the very lovely Holly Bush pub 🍺☕️🍟
Roughy 2.5-3 hours and approx 6 miles.NB: Cost is £2 due to increased Meet Up subscription. Please pay on the day or preferably beforehand via this link: https://www.paypal.me/aac007?locale.x=en_GB Please choose friends & family option only
If you enjoy the event we encourage participants to add a message and/or pictures after. Members can and do enjoy reading them 📸 ✍️
If you are unable to attend for any reason please ensure you change your RSVP to not going. Do not be the person everyone is unwittingly waiting for. My contact number is 07376 796266

Members are expected to take responsibility for their own preparation and safety (including fluids, weather protection and a snack).
- WHAAAS’ Annual Bluebells Walk 🥀Little Gaddesden Church, Berkhamsted£2.00
Join us on a fantastic walk that welcomes a sea of beautiful bluebells, at the end of a long wooded trail 🌲
We leave at 10.30 prompt from the Church Road free car park. HP4 1NZ. Church Road is opposite the white gates to Ashridge College. The group will not be waiting for anyone who is not on time 🚙
To start we move swiftly towards the pub and down a narrow lane and onto an enclosed pathway leading to a road. Across and up through lots of woodland 🌳 all the way to a stunning bluebells circular walk (we have deliberately avoided the magnificent manufactured Dockey Wood as the (some say) greedy National Trust are charging £3.50 per person to walk through it!)
We then saunter back and pass through open fields & approximately 💯 kissing gates 😁 to the Old Deer Leap swimming pool 🏊♂️ (now a huge house!!). We’ll then skirt round the back of the pub to a Commonwealth memorial Church ⛪️ and back to the car park. Those that want to can then sit in the historic Bridgewater Arms pub garden 🪴🍺☕️🍟
Roughy 2.5-3 hours and exactly 6.5 miles.NB: Cost is £2 due to increased Meet Up subscription. Please pay on the day or preferably beforehand via this link: https://www.paypal.me/aac007?locale.x=en_GB Please choose friends & family option only
If you enjoy the event we encourage participants to add a message and/or pictures after on the past event. Other members can and do read them, which gives them an idea of future events
NB: This is not the stars review that Meet Up ask you for. No one apart from myself and Meet Up see this! 📸 👍🏻If you are unable to attend for any reason please ensure you change your RSVP to not going. Not doing this results in holding up everybody else, which is unfair on all. My contact number is 07376 796266
