What we’re about

The river Wharfe stretches from Langstrothdale above Buckden to meet the river Ouse near Cawood. Over a distance of 60 miles, it passes through some of the most beautiful parts of Yorkshire.

We’re a social group who walk for pleasure. We offer a variety of walks at different levels, predominately but not exclusively, in and around the Wharfe Valley. New members are always welcome. Whether your Yorkshire born and bred or new to the area, come and see the fantastic scenery that Yorkshire has to offer. We walk all year round and in all but the most extreme of weather.

Our walks are graded in accordance with the terrain and ascent. We show length and pace separately. Our grades may be different to other groups. For more details on this, what to bring,  and so much more, please see the 'pages, section which can be seen on the website by visiting the group's 'about' page, selecting 'photos' then selecting 'more', then 'pages'.

WE ENDEAVOUR TO GIVE A FULL DESCRIPTION OF WHAT TO EXPECT ON EACH WALK. PLEASE ENSURE YOU ALWAYS READ THE FULL LISTING BEFORE YOU RSVP.

Please note - our event hosts are volunteers without formal walk-leader qualifications and we don't have insurance. We do recce our walks to make sure the route is safe for a group and to enable us to give you an accurate description of the event. We’re a not for profit group. We ask for a donation of £1 per walk to cover meetup site fees and travel costs, any remaining funds have latterly been donated to The Upper Wharfedale Fell Rescue Association.

Our event hosts are there to show you the route and ensure no-one is lost on the way. You are responsible for your own safety at all times. We ask that you respect the event host, remain mindful of the safety of others and always stay with the group.
