What we’re about
Wild Cycling is a cycling club based in Richmond and it would clearly help if you live in the locality as many of our rides start here. We look to appeal to regular cyclists from 35-65 who love off-road rides in the counties around London or further. Our members are cyclists with the necessary ability, knowledge and skills to tackle technical off-road trails so you will need to be a competent cyclist to join us otherwise you risk injuring yourself. You will also need to have a decent level of fitness as most of our rides are 30 miles or more. This is important as our rides will not be suitable for inexperienced riders who cannot keep up with the group.
What does wild cycling mean? It can be lots of things from short ambles through the countryside to off-the-grid bike adventures. For me wild cycling means using bridleways, trails and lanes to explore Britain's extraordinarily beautiful countryside. Rougher trails demand bikes with specific off-road capabilities such as gravel bikes, MTBs but generally speaking a hybrid bike with a wider tyre width will do. Road bikes with skinny tyres and race gear ratios will not cope so please bear this in mind before you join.
