What we’re about
The Chicago Beer Runners
Looking for fun, social runners interested in meeting other fellow runners in a relaxed, noncompetitive environment? Join us for biweekly runs around Lakeview, followed by a cold beverage or three. All abilities from beginner to experienced welcome. We don't break into formal pace groups, but with people who average anywhere between 7 and 14 minute miles, you'll usually find someone to run with.
We meet year-round and have a lot of fun whether it's 85 and sunny or 10 and snowing. Beer Runners don't stop. And we meet throughout the year for races and parties, too. Join the fun!
Upcoming events (4+)
See all- Monday Night Run and DrinksWild Goose Bar & Grill, Chicago, IL
Beer Runners meets at Wild Goose on Monday nights. We meet at the bar, start the run at 6:35pm, and then meet back at the bar by about 7:10pm to eat, drink, and be merry.
Feel free to extend or cut short the run as you see fit. We don't have set pace groups or goad you to run faster/slower. Run what you're comfortable with and we'll meet back at the bar.
Recommended Route(s)
1 | "Horner Park Loop" (3 miles)
An out and back route, running out via Wilson across the river to Manor, then South on Manor or California to Horner park. Once in the park we do one big loop of the path inside, then out and back the same way.You can get in/out of Horner park via a stoplight at California and Montrose, or a mid block but well signed crosswalk at Manor and Montrose, whichever you are more comfortable with. We do recommend slowing down on the Wilson Ave bridge as it's relatively narrow for pedestrians, and be cautious at the intersections along Manor as many are at oblique angles.
2 | "The Old Route" (3.2 miles)
A simple loop with better lighting and snow clearing in the colder months, but with more stoplight crossings. We go a block and half North to Leland, East to Ashland, South to Irving, West to Lincoln, and back Northwest to the bar. This can be easily modified to a 2 mile run by running East on Wilson, turning South on the East side of Ravenswood, and then back West to Lincoln via Berteau.
Please RSVP if you plan to attend.
See you Monday! - Wednesday Night Run and DrinksKirkwood, Chicago, IL
Beer Runners meets at Kirkwood in Lakeview on Wednesday nights. We meet at the bar, start the run at 6:35pm, and then meet back at the bar by about 7:10pm.
We don't have set pace groups or apply pressure to run faster/slower. Our typical route is around ~5k. That said, feel free to extend or cut short the run as you see fit, run whatever you are comfortable with, and meet us back at the bar to eat, drink, and be merry!
Please RSVP if you plan to attend. See you Wednesday!
