What we’re about
HI
This is a book club for women over 50 to meet, eat and/or have a glass of wine or a cocktail and discuss the month's reading suggestion. There is a new book chosen by the hostess each month. The books range in genre from light and easy reading to current best sellers.
I ask that you only want to enjoy a couple of hours of social time centered around a common read and make new friends.
We will be 7 years old Sept 2025. We have a growing base of women.
The books we have read are varied and always interesting. We are a book club that actually discusses the book and combines social time.
Please join our little group. I look forward to meeting you.
Note from Susan: Thank you to all the Wise and Wonderful women who make this club so much fun. I look forward to it and seeing each of you every month.

See all- Miss Benson's Beetle by Rachel JoyceNeeds location
She's going too far to go it alone.
It is 1950. London is still reeling from World War II, and Margery Benson, a schoolteacher and spinster, is trying to get through life, surviving on scraps. One day, she reaches her breaking point, abandoning her job and small existence to set out on an expedition to the other side of the world in search of her childhood obsession: an insect that may or may not exist--the golden beetle of New Caledonia. When she advertises for an assistant to accompany her, the woman she ends up with is the last person she had in mind. Fun-loving Enid Pretty in her tight-fitting pink suit and pom-pom sandals seems to attract trouble wherever she goes. But together these two British women find themselves drawn into a cross-ocean adventure that exceeds all expectations and delivers something neither of them expected to find: the transformative power of friendship.

Michael Crichton, the number one New York Times best-selling author of Jurassic Park, returns to the world of palaeontology in this recently discovered novel - a thrilling adventure set in the Wild West during the golden age of fossil hunting.
The year is 1876. Warring Indian tribes still populate America's western territories, even as lawless gold-rush towns begin to mark the landscape. Against this backdrop two palaeontologists pillage the Wild West for dinosaur fossils while deceiving and sabotaging each other in a rivalry that will come to be known as the Bone Wars.
Into this treacherous territory plunges William Johnson, a Yale student with more privilege than sense. Determined to win a bet against his archrival, William has joined world-renowned palaeontologist Othniel Charles Marsh on his latest expedition. But Marsh becomes convinced that William is spying for his nemesis, Edwin Drinker Cope, and abandons him in Cheyenne, Wyoming, a locus of crime and vice.
Soon William joins forces with Cope and stumbles upon a discovery of historic proportions. The struggle to protect this extraordinary treasure, however, will test William's newfound resilience and pit him against some of the West's most dangerous and notorious characters....
