We’re going back to Talcott Ridge and the Tower! Last year’s hike up to Heublein Tower was disappointing because of the fog and drizzle. This year we’re returning and hoping for all the good weather and beautiful views we missed.
How to find us: The entrance to Talcott Mountain State Park is on Route 185 in Simsbury. Drive up that road, Summit Ridge Drive, until you see the trail head on the left. You can park anywhere along the road. We will be in the lookout for you!
Please bring a drink and a snack if you’d like. We will hike up to the tower, climb up all the stairs if you want, and then take a break and socialize at the pavilion before going back down. 2.5 m total. We will start off right at 9. Message us if you’re running late. See you there!

This is a beautiful, fairly easy hike to the top of Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall CT. We will be walking on roads and trails. Smooth footing and a slow meandering climb to the summit, where we will stop and take in the view. Bring a snack and a beverage for the break. Plan on about 2 hours, maybe a little more. We will meet at the Ranger Station at 8:45 and plan to head out at 9. Bring bug repellent just in case!
The summit offers views of the Taconic Mountains and Berkshire Mountains to north and northwest including Bear Mountain, Canaan Mountain, and Cream Hill in Connecticut as well as peaks in Massachusetts (Race Mountain, Mount Everett, Mount Greylock) and the eastern Catskills in New York State.

If you've never been to the beautiful Topsmead State Forest you're in for a treat! We will hike the 3 beautiful, easy walking trails totaling about 4 miles. Bring a light lunch or snack and a beverage to enjoy afterwards on the lawn in front of the English Tudor Summer home that graces this gorgeous property. I always say our jaunts are about 2 hours, but plan for a little longer if you want to stay and chat afterwards. We will start promptly at 9, so please message in the group if you are lost or running late so we can help you!

A lovely 4-mile loop along pine-needled old roads that follows the Tunxis Trail through Nepaug Forest. We will veer off after a few miles onto a wide track that eventually leads to a beautiful glen full of laurel right during peak bloom. Meet in the parking lot on Rt 202.
